The American Boer Goat Association, the leading association of Boer Goat Breeders in the United States based in San Angelo, Texas, has admitted Vice Governor Manny Pinol, owner/breeder of the Braveheart Farms of North Cotabato as a new member.
Vice Governor Pinol's admission as member of the prestigious Boer breeders' association came three months after he was also admitted as member of the equally prestigious American Dairy Goat Association (ADGA) which is based in Spindale, North Carolina.
With his ABGA membership, Vice Gov. Pinol's Braveheart Farms which has been assigned ABGA Membership # 37906 can now avail ABGA's Boer Genetics Program which records the genetics of Boer goats registered with the association.
The genetic recording is a big help to Boer goat breeders as it enables them to keep track of the performances of the specific bloodlines of Boers.
The ABGA membership will also enable Braveheart Farms to obtain Certificates of Registration of the goats born in the farm which in turn will be very helpful to other Filipino goat breeders.
Braveheart Farms has over 300 Boers now, about 60 of which are imported breeding stocks, including the National Goat and Sheep Conferederation of the Philippines (NGSCP) 2007 champion buck 70 Rocky which was acquired from the 70 Boers Ranch in California in 2006.
The three other herd sires in the Braveheart Farms -- Rawhide Stormcat (red Boer), Rawhide Riggin (half-brother of 70 Rocky) and Rawhide Floyd (offspring of Ennobled Der Bo Hunk) were all acquired from the Rawhide Ranch of Kim Dougherty in Palmdale, California.
Braveheart Farms breeds the traditional (red head with white body) and colored (red and painted) Boers. It has now become the main source of excellent Boer and dairy goats breeding stocks for other Filipino goat raisers.
