The Philippines' Braveheart Farms based in Kidapawan City, North Cotabato has been admitted as a member of the American Dairy Goat Association (ADGA) becoming the first dairy goat farm in the Far East to be accredited by the prestigious association of dairy goat breeders of America.

The Spindale, North Carolina-based association is mainly involved in the development of the dairy goat industry in the United States and has been been in the forefront of the effort to keep records of all outstanding dairy goats and in genetic improvement.

It holds an annual National Show where breeders from all over the United States participate and compete for the highest honor of Premier Breeder of Show. This year, the ADGA Nationals will be held in Louisville, Kentucky in July.

Braveheart Farms admission into the ADGA is expected to start the improvement of the dairy goat industry through genetics records keeping as it will enable the North Cotabato-based farm to register with ADGA all of the Anglo Nubian and La Mancha kids that it will produce from out of the imported stocks from the US.

With this, all dairy goat kids coming out of the Braveheart Farms now will be covered by ADGA registration papers which will enable the new owners to keep track of the goats genetic records.

Braveheart Farms now has about 80 Anglo Nubian and La Mancha breeders which it acquired from top US breeders including three ADGA National Champions -- Karen Senn of Kastdemur Dairy Goats, Megan Tredway and Aaron Carter of Lakeshore and Teresa Wade of Hills Acres.

The farm also acquired Anglo Nubian and La Mancha goats from Dr. Jeanne Koploy of Royal Oaks, California.
