i! I'm Manny Piņol, the Vice Governor of North Cotabato (Pop. 1 million), one of the 80 provinces of the Philippines. I was elected Governor in 1998 after serving as mayor of my hometown, M'lang for three years. I was reelected twice. Under Philippine laws, a local government official can only serve for three terms of three years each. My last term as Governor ended June 30, 2007, thus the decision to slide down to the position of Vice Governor.
Alongside my effort to uplift the living condition of my people (The Province was ranked 74th in 1998 making it one of the poorest in the country. In 2004, North Cotabato jumped up the ladder to the 29th position of the more progressive localities in the Philippines.), I have also pursued my greatest passion - farming. >>>
he Boer Goat was first introduced to me by a US-based acquaintance who handled the shipment of the American gamefowls that I acquired for breeding in the Philippines.
The first shipment that I received included a big white buck and four does. Unfortunately, the buck suffered a bloat after arrival and I lost him after about two weeks. more >
he raising and caring of gamefowls is part of the Filipino culture.
In my desire to raise good gamefowls, I bought breeding materials from such breeders as Dink Fair, Larry Carter, Col. Charles Givens and others.
I currently breed Sweaters, Kelsos, Roundheads, Hatches and Greys. I am also starting to breed Spangled Kelsos from Travis Clark crossed to Spangled Hatches from Col. Givens. more >
s one of the advocates of sustainable and profitable agriculture in the Philippines today, I have been recommending four major crops that should be given focus by government - banana, coconut, oil palm and rubber.
I have planted about 100 hectares of rubber for myself and I am now operating a rubber seedling and bud wood nursery with the purpose of improving the quality of rubber in the Philippines. more >

WHAT IS A BOER GOAT?
The Boer goat was developed in South Africa in the early 1900s for meat production. Their name is derived from the Dutch word "Boer" meaning farmer. The Boer goat was probably bred from the indigenous goats of the Namaqua Bushmen and the Fooku tribes, with some crossing of Indian and European bloodlines being possible. They were selected for meat rather than milk production; due to selective breeding and improvement, the Boer goat has a fast growth rate and excellent carcass qualities, making it one of the most popular breeds of meat goat in the world. Boer goats have a high resistance to disease and adapt well to hot, dry semi-deserts. U.S. production is centered in west-central Texas, particularly in and around San Angelo. The original US breeding stock came from herds located in New Zealand. Only later were they imported directly from South Africa.

The Goat (Capra hircus domesticus) is one of the most versatile animals ever domesticated by man. It can survive in the most difficult locations with bare vegetation. It eats almost anything, including your laundry.
But just like other domesticated animals, the goats, however sturdy they may be, are also affected and afflicted by diseases.
ne of the most misunderstood animals among God's creations is the goat.
Come to think of it: if someone is at the tail-end of his class, he is called a Goat. But goats are not that dumb at all.
If one does not relish taking every bath everyday and stinks, he is told "You smell like a goat!" But not all goats smell like the proverbial goats. In fact, the Boer goats we have in the Braveheart Farms are given a bath at least once a month complete with soap and shampoo!
