raveheart Farms Boer Goat breeding program is anchored mainly on outstanding breeding stocks that we have patiently scouted and acquired from the State of California in the United States.

Five outstanding Boer bucks, all registered with the American Boer Goat Association, are now being utilized to produce outstanding goats to be used in breeding program to improve the quality of meat goats in the Philippines.

On top of the list of the five outstanding bucks is 70 Rocky who was bred by Thomas and Marilyn Sevigny of 70 Boers in Acton, California. Born on March 4, 2005, Rocky was a junior champion in California before he was acquired by the Braveheart Farms in 2006.

Used extensively in 2006, Rocky has produced offsprings who have shown tremendous weight gain and muscling as shown by the spectacular 4-month-old buckling BHF Shaquille who weighed 34 kilos at weaning.

In March this year, 70 Rocky traveled to Cagayan de Oro City and was shown in the National Goat and Sheep Congress of the Philippines where he was adjudged as the Best Senior Boer Buck besting other imported Boer bucks from Australia. (Three other goats from Braveheart Farms topped their categories.)

Rocky traces his lineage in his father side to EGGSORCIST, a Boer buck who was ennobled in 2001 who was mated to EGGSQUISITE, a doe ennobled in 2002. Out of this mating came EGGSONERATE who was ennobled in 2002 and mated to SRR LRB-LATISA to produce Rocky's father, LRB BUBBA.

LRB BUBBA was mated by Tom to EGGS R832 SONOMA to produce 70 Rocky. During the period that Rocky was used in the breeding program, he showed that he is a prolific producer siring over 100 kids all of whom carried his features.

Convinced that Rocky's genetics should be preserved, Braveheart Farms decided to acquire his half-brother, Riggin from Kim Dougherty of the Rawhide Ranch in Palmdale, California.

Riggin, born March 13, 2006, also has the EGGS genetics in him tracing his lineage in his father's side to EGGSONERATE who is his greatgrandfather. EGGSONERATE sired TEHACHAPI'S GUN'A SMOKE 'UM who in turn sired TEHACHAPI'S RUGER, who is Riggin's father.

Rocky and Riggin have a common mother, EGGS R832 SONOMA, making them half-brothers. To perpetuate the EGGS line, Rocky's first batch of young does are now being mated to Riggin with the first kids expected to come April of 2008.

In order to maintain hybrid vigor, Braveheart Farms decided to acquire two other bucks from different bloodlines with the intention of crossbreeding the offsprings of these two bucks to those produced by Rocky and Riggin.

Rawhide Floyd, born March 24, 2006, was sired by DER BO HUNK, one of the most outstanding Boer bucks in the US today who was ennobled last year by the ABGA. BO HUNK who was originally owned by Tom Sevigny and later acquired by Kim Dougherty traces his lineage to RYALS TOPBRASS, a buck that was ennobled in 2001 who sired JRA1 AGNEW'S BO HOWDY, who was ennobled in 2003. BO HOWDY is the father of BO HUNK. Floyd's mother is DREAM QUEST DENA who also traces her lineage to EGGSONERATE and MISSOURI ROSE, a doe that was also ennobled.

Rawhide Renegade, the fourth white imported Boer buck at the Braveheart Farms, was acquired to give future Boer stocks from the farm the height and the length of body. While not as muscled as Rocky and Riggin, it is hoped that when crossbred to Rocky or Riggin's offsprings, Renegade would give the kids the height and length of body.

Renegade, born on Jan. 29, 2006, was sired by RRD RYALS FINALE, an offspring of RRD RYALS GOLDUST who in turn was produced out of TOP GUN NO. 2, a buck who was ennobled in 2000.

Completing the 5 BIG BOYS of Braveheart Farms is a fullblood Red Boer buck, STORM CAT, who is actually a half-brother of Rawhide Riggin both having the same father - TEHACHAPI'S RUGER.

STORM CAT, born Jan. 10, 2006, came as a triplet but while he came out red, his two other siblings - RAWHIDE DENALI, a buck, and RAWHIDE NIKE, a doe, both came white.

STORM CAT's mother is DREAM QUEST NADINE a daughter of LRB BUBBA making her a half-sister of ROCKY.

STORM CAT is being used to establish a line of Red Boers. STORM CAT's offsprings may later be crossed to a new line of Red Boers coming from Outback Boers Ranch of Texas.

But this is not going to be the end of the line for Braveheart Farms efforts to improve its breeding stocks of Boers believing in the saying that "Anybody who stops on his tracks will get run over."
